Tredici Ristorante: Authentic Italian Dining in Jakarta

Tredici Ristorante

Lo and behold food (and carb) lovers! Amidst all the new restos along the Senopati/Suryo stretch, Tredici Ristorante has recently opened its doors to the public!

Tredici is a new Italian joint with a nice rustic décor and a quaint backyard area that is actually fully air-conditioned (aircon is always a big plus in a place as humid as SCBD hands down).

The captain of the kitchen is an Italian with years of experience navigating the culinary seas and as such, when we were there last week for lunch, we were expecting authentic Italian dishes done right.

They got plenty of stuff to offer, which seems like the normal fare for Italian restos these days: they got pasta (why of course!), pizza, all sorts of meat, seafood, and a variety of entrees as well as desserts.

Being the hungry bunch that we are, we immediately ordered cold cuts, the Mantova pizza, the Gnocchi and the pork chop.

All of the dishes came out at the same time and one thing for sure we should have gotten ourselves a larger table…..

Now let me start with the cold cuts first. The cold cuts were actually okay; however, the consensus amongst us was that the cheese and the ham could be made a bit more refined (perhaps more exotic types of cheese and cured meats to set the dish apart from other places?) .

The gnocchi did not disappoint. Generous servings of gnocchi covered in cream sauce. Need I say more?

Okay given the carbs galore maybe afterwards you can run a lap or two at the nearby Blok S football field to shed off the kilos but dayum son cream-based pasta can do no wrong in my books.Gnocchi

The pork chop also hit all the right notes. They served the pork chop with (what I think is) apple sauce.

Deadly combo: the pork was juicy and succulent and the sauce provided the right amount of zing to the meat.

It came with another side dish but I was enjoying my love affair with the pork a bit too much I didn’t recall what the other side dish was.

And the next one is the piece de resistance: the Mantova pizza! The pizza is definitely a must-try for cheese fanatics:  it got gorgonzola, pork sausages, and rocket leaves on it.

The pizza was done nicely and although they are using a type of blue cheese, there is a fine balance in the ingredients which makes it a serious contender for one of the top pizzas in Jakarta.

Even if you guys don’t like strong cheeses, I would still recommend giving the pizza a go since the taste is quite distinct from other pizza places in town.

Now I wasn’t lying when I said we were hungry because even after all the food we managed to somehow order 3 desserts: the panna cotta, the vanilla bourbon gelato, and the tiramisu.

Panna Cotta

The highlight of the dessert round would definitely be the tiramisu.

Being a classic Italian dessert, we expected a superb tiramisu and Tredici definitely delivered on its premise as an Italian resto. The tiramisu was just perfect: not too sweet with a rich coffee flavor.

We were told by the lovely owners (who, by the way, came by our table several times to see whether or not everything’s okay, a nice gesture which I think should be a benchmark of excellent customer service everywhere) that they used D’Angelo coffee, a household name amongst caffeine addicts.

Overall, this young Italian place proves to be more than just another resto in the Senopati/Suryo area. The food is excellent and with its nice casual ambience, the joint seems to be destined to become one of the hottest Italian places in town.

Now if you guys would excuse me, I gotta go to Blok S to run some more laps to get rid of the excess kilos (which are totally worth it!).
